ASDevices Secures New Investment from Private Strategic Investor toAccelerate Innovation in Ultra-Trace Gas Analysis
Investment strengthens R&D and brings new talent on board, while ASDevices remains a privately held, Canadian-owned company under its existing leadership.
ASDevices, a global leader in ultra-trace gas analysis technologies, announces a new investment from a private strategic investor based in Asia. The investment will fuel the company’s continued growth, expand its research and development capabilities, and bring new talent on board, as ASDevices pursues the innovation mission in ultra-trace analysis that has defined the company since its founding.
The transaction is a minority investment and results in no change to ASDevices’ ownership or control. ASDevices remains a privately held, Canadian-owned company, headquartered in Thetford, Canada, and continues to be led by its founders.
Alongside the investment, ASDevices is evolving its leadership structure to sharpen its focus for this next phase of growth. André Lamontagne, previously President, becomes CEO and Chairman of the Board, taking on expanded responsibility for the company’s overall strategy and operations. Yves Gamache, who founded ASDevices and has served as CEO and CTO, will now dedicate himself entirely to technological innovation as Chief Technology Officer, continuing to lead the R&D efforts that have defined the company since he invented the world’s first digital N2-in-argon analyzer in 1993. Both remain fully engaged in the business, and the transition involves no change in ownership control.
Ultra-trace gas analysis is part of ASDevices’ DNA. The company traces its innovation lineage back to 1993, when founder Yves Gamache created the world’s first digital analyzer to detect nitrogen in argon and helium, a breakthrough that became a worldwide standard for air separation facilities. That same spirit of invention has since produced the KA34X Series of trace oxygen analyzers with patent-pending purged-cathode sensor technology, industry-leading advances in hydrogen purity measurement, and the wear-proof, near-zero dead volume valve technology developed by CVProducts, an ASDevices division. Across three decades, ASDevices and its founders have accumulated over 180 patents worldwide.
“This investment allows me to focus on what I love most: solving the hardest problems in ultra-trace gas analysis,” said Yves Gamache, Founder and CTO of ASDevices. “We have spent over 30 years pushing the limits of this field, from the first N2-in-argon analyzer to today’s ppt-level oxygen and hydrogen purity technologies. With André now leading the company as CEO, I can dedicate myself fully to technology and bring in the next generation of engineers and scientists to keep innovating at the pace our customers need.”
With this new capital, ASDevices plans to expand its engineering and R&D teams, welcoming young talent to work alongside its founders on the next generation of ultra-trace analysis technologies. The company will also continue to invest in its patented gas chromatography as well as coulometric sensing platforms and to introduce new sensing technologies, reinforcing its position as the only company in the world to own all key process gas chromatography technologies related to the measurement of ultra-pure industrial gases.
“We have always been a trailblazer in this field, whether it was the first digital N2-in-argon analyzer three decades ago, or more recently our advances in hydrogen purity analysis and wear-proof valve technology,” said André Lamontagne, CEO and Charmain of the Board of ASDevices. “This investment does not change our identity. We remain a private, Canadian-owned company, led by our founders. What it does is give us more resources and more talent, and it lets Yves focus entirely on the innovation that has always set us apart, while I take on a broader role driving the company’s overall strategy.”
ASDevices intends to remain focused on its core markets, including semiconductor manufacturing, hydrogen and specialty gases, and air separation, where its instruments support customers requiring the highest levels of purity and reliability.
