André Lamontagne Named CEO of ASDevices as Founder Yves GamacheSteps Into Full-Time Role as Chief Technology Officer

After more than three decades pioneering ultra-trace gas analysis technology, Gamache hands the reins to Lamontagne to focus entirely on the innovation that built the company.

Thetford, Canada – ASDevices, a global leader in ultra-trace gas analysis technologies for the semiconductor, hydrogen, and industrial gas markets, today announced that André Lamontagne, previously President, has been named Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. The appointment marks a new chapter in the company’s leadership as founder Yves Gamache passes the torch to focus entirely on technological innovation as Chief Technology Officer.

The transition reflects a deliberate handoff rather than a departure. Both leaders remain fully engaged in the business, and the change involves no shift in ownership or control: ASDevices remains a privately held, Canadian-owned company headquartered in Thetford, Canada.

As CEO, Lamontagne will take on expanded responsibility for the company’s overall strategy, operations, and international growth, building on ASDevices’ position as a trusted supplier to some of the world’s leading semiconductor manufacturers. Gamache, freed from day-to-day executive duties, will dedicate himself entirely to R&D, continuing to lead the innovation work that has defined ASDevices since its inception. Furthermore, he’s starting the redaction of a book on compendium of technologies developed the last 30 years, on demande from clients and partenrs.

A legacy of pioneering innovation

Gamache’s move to CTO caps a journey that began in 1993, when he created a world first: a fully digital analyzer capable of measuring nitrogen in argon and helium. At the time, the dominant technology relied on argon ionization detectors using a radioactive tritium source, an approach that required managing radioactive waste and was prone to interference from moisture and trace gases such as CH4 and CO. Gamache’s spectroscopic, plasma-based design eliminated those problems entirely.

Built and assembled by hand, weighing roughly sixty pounds, the analyzer, known as the K2000, had no equivalent on the market at the time. The the K2001 was relased and It went on to become a worldwide reference for air separation plants, and the majority of such facilities still rely on systems built on that patented technology today. Three decades later, the company’s N2Sense analyzer carries that legacy forward as one of the most compact and highest-performing continuous process analyzers on the market.

Gamache went on to found a succession of companies in Thetford Mines built around this expertise, culminating in the creation of ASDevices in 2017 alongside Lamontagne. Across more than 30 years, that innovation lineage has produced over 200 patents worldwide, including the KA34X Series of trace oxygen analyzers, patent-pending purged-cathode sensor technology, and industry-leading advances in hydrogen purity measurement, cementing ASDevices’ position as the only company in the world to own all key process gas chromatography technologies related to fuel-cell-grade hydrogen measurement.

“Thirty years ago, I built the first digital nitrogen analyzer by hand because nothing like it existed. That same drive to solve problems nobody else could solve is still what gets me up in the morning,” said Yves Gamache, Founder and CTO of ASDevices. “Handing the CEO role to André lets me do exactly that, full time, with a next generation of engineers and scientists at my side. I could not ask for a better place to spend the next chapter of my career than back at the bench, pushing the limits of ultra-trace analysis.”

“Yves built the foundation this entire company, and frankly this entire industry cluster in Thetford Mines, stands on. It is a privilege to take on the CEO role and help carry that vision forward,” said André Lamontagne, CEO and Chairman of the Board of ASDevices. “My job now is to make sure Yves and our technical teams have everything they need to keep innovating, while we grow our reach with the world’s leading semiconductor, hydrogen, and industrial gas customers.”

ASDevices will continue to invest in its patented gas chromatography and coulometric sensing platforms and to introduce new sensing technologies, while expanding its engineering and R&D teams under Gamache’s direction. For more information, visit www.asdevices.com or contact sales@asdevices.com.
